Hopes for the New Year
“Ring out the old, ring in the new. The year is going, let him go; Ring out the false, ring in the true” Alfred, Lord Tennyson
Here are some things large and small that make us feel good. I wish these and more for you in the New Year...
Falling in love. Or being in love.
Laughing so hard your face hurts.
A hot shower on a cold day.
No lines at the supermarket
Mail from someone far away.
Taking a drive on a pretty road.
Hearing your favorite song on the radio.
Lying in bed listening to the rain outside.
Hot towels fresh out of the dryer.
The sound of children giggling.
A good conversation.
A great book.
The beach.
Finding a 20 dollar bill in your coat from last winter.
Laughing at yourself.
Midnight phone calls that last for hours.
Laughing at an inside joke.
Accidentally overhearing someone say something nice about you.
Waking up and realizing you still have a few hours left to sleep.
A passionate kiss.
Spending time with old friends.
Playing with a puppy.
Homemade cookies.
Knowing that somebody misses you.
Watching the expression on a friend's face as (s)he opens a great gift.
A snow day.
Knowing you've done the right thing, no matter what other people think.
And I wish us all PEACE, joy and a brighter future in 2006.
